Entitled couple spend $60000 on wedding, complain about having to cancel honeymoon because their guests only gifted them $3000: 'We are freaking out and really devastated'

I will forever maintain that there are countless ways to spend a lot of money better than having a blowout wedding. If you do want to have a big day, you have to know that you can afford it. The reason that the wedding industry makes billions despite declining marriage rates is that everything is so crazy expensive that before you know it, you have suddenly spent the downpayment for a house on the ceremony and reception.

This is something that one couple ended up doing for their recent nuptials, and they were not pleased with the consequences. They complained on the internet that their 270 guests had not gifted them the amount of money they had expected from them, leading to them having to cancel their honeymoon. While some people pointed out that certain guests had been a little stingy, many were baffled at the expectation that a wedding should turn a profit. This doesn't seem like a celebration of love.

    We just got married yesterday- and we spent $60,000 on our wedding with a guest count of 270. We worked our butts off and pushed so many bills, rent, ect, only taking out a loan of $4,000 (from my mom and is demanding back by the end of this month). Also, it's acceptable for guests to mail a gifts after the wedding, so maybe wait a few weeks before slamming your friends & family on the internet

If you can't afford a big party then have a small one. If people complain explain you're not filthy rich.
